Aligning to Kronos time

Light & sparkles from skyChronos and Kairos were two ways the ancient Greeks understood time. The first one is clock time: it’s measurable, steady, it’s, well, chronological. Kairos is wild and wacky: the surprising breaking into our routines in a way that is decisive and opportunistic.

We often suffer under chronos and come alive when Kairos strikes. Recently the sliver of the new moon was bright in the dark sky as it hung just above the Lake Superior horizon line.

This was a thing of beauty that arrested me, and eclipsed the worried thinking that was hamster wheeling in my head.

Somehow this flash, this moment in time, aligned me with a spiritual perspective that set the rest of my thoughts in their proper and easy place. Kairos clarifies. Kairos renews. Kairos inspires.

The best spiritual practices open the gates to, and invite, Kairos moments.
