Here is my first post to Thrivings, a blog dedicated to exploring the difference between surviving and thriving. Surviving and thriving represent two very different worlds in which we can live. Most of us spend most of our time surviving. We live in a reactive mode, just getting by, waiting for the next good thing  to happen.

I believe we can shift our orientation so that we live in a way which generates good things. In this orientation we are not dependent on life to serve us well, rather we orient ourselves to creating the life we want to live. This is represents some significant shifts in perspective. We change:

  • from being an effect to being the main cause behind our lives
  • from being a victim to being an agent
  • from resisting what we experience in life to cooperating with the flow of life as it comes to us.

In the blogs that follow, I will share with you some of the ways in which we can help this shift happen. To sum it up, I believe that we thrive when we live with attention and intention.  And as we do so, life gets easier and we feel more empowered to design the life we want to live.
