The Quiet Revolution

Meditating on beachAn odd thing happens as you grow increasingly comfortable with yourself and your spiritual life: You find your world making sense to fewer people, and their worlds seem less compelling to you. There is a lonely side to this, at the same time as we know there is no going back. The quiet revolution, as Greg McKeown calls it, is underway.

As we like ourselves more, our need for others’ approval is lessened. The farther we move into this awareness, the more freedom we feel. This isn’t saying that we become hermits, but that we live more guided by our internal compass than by outward pressures or expectations.

How have you seen this quiet revolution showing up in your life?
